It worked really well in my situation with 2 cats, where one was bullying the other. This was a long-term problem, my other cat was a nervous wreck. These chews are great. They were recommended by my veterinarian for our older cat who was having mobility issues due to arthritis. It was painful for her to even walk around much. We started her on these chews.

My Newfoundland lost 80% of its hair all over its body from a thyroid condition. Even after we got the thyroid under control he was still losing his hair. I work w/ my local VSA ( voluntary services for animals). I took in a few kittens that’s eyes were almost completely shut with crust & their little noses were covered in crust & mucus.
A pitiful sight :(. I quickly took all 4 to the vet within 24 hrs. WELL, after they said it was “Feline herpes”, (an upper respiratory infection that doesn’t go away but can be controlled) IT ended up costing me close to $800!! With Vet costs, testing costs, & the “Wonderfully expensive” medication they gave me for Each cat, That helped some but not much!!
They had liquid meds, meds that had to be put INTO their eyes like 4xs a day, & some other antibiotics.
It was awful, & seriously it didn’t help much at all. It lessened it some, but they needed the meds constantly! I looked on the Internet for any info I could find & found out about LYSINE !!

So, the cat powdered LYSINE works well, it’s flavored mixes well in food & good to start on. I had no luck putting this on DRY food, I have heard many ppl do that but my cats wouldn’t eat the food & most just fell to the bottom of the dish/bowl.
I also bought & use HUMAN grade LYSINE 500 mg tablets & crush them up w/ a spoon & mix them into wet food. This is VERY cost effective! It tastes stronger than this flavored powder, so use good wet food to mix with & you won’t have a problem. My cats got used to it fast.
You can also buy LYSINE powder in BULK on here, it’s human grade & already finely crushed up. It works GREAT & costs MUCH less. Plus I like that it’s “human” grade. I now can skip months at a time with no LYSINE & they still get no flare-ups.
This LYSINE is a Godsend! I recommend this powder if starting out, it’s flavored and cats will take it well. But cost-wise, the pills, tablets, capsules at your store or on here ( cheaper!) are the strongest & the best I’ve found( crush up finely). bitter, but cats really don’t “taste” bitter I’ve heard.

Btw, In order to replicate & cause FLARE UPS, in humans & cats the herpes virus needs “ARGININE” another amino acid such as LYSINE.
When LISINE is taken at higher doses, it prevents the amino acid ARGININE from overproducing & hence preventing outbreaks of the herpes virus. So just check your pet’s FOODS, TREATS, etc for any ARGININE ( L-ARGININE ) in them as this will ADD to your problem!!
There ARE foods with this in the ingredient list I’ve found, so just FYI to be safe. I hope this helps someone with the problems I went through & learned from along the way!!
Amazing Result
Our kitty is 17, and she has feline herpes that flairs from stress. Thankfully it isn’t chronic, but when she’s stressed, it’s taken her to serious illness from being congested and not eating.

Review: Best Probiotic On Market Today
I have an elderly cat with pancreatitis and probable IBD (pic attached!), and in recent months his pancreatitis has gotten worse (as judged by his poor appetite, abdominal tenderness, and elevated pancreatic lipase lab test) and his weight has gone down.
Like many pet owners, I will go to great lengths to do what’s best for my furry pal, and so I started researching things I could do in addition to his prescribed meds to make my kitty’s health better.
One of the articles I read was written by a vet a couple of years ago (Dr. Jean Hofve; google her name + “probiotic”) and it gave a good overview of the potential benefits of using a probiotic–there are also scientific papers and abstracts from veterinary conferences that can be easily found on the web if you want hard data.
One of the points that many of the reputable articles make is that ideally, a probiotic should have many strains of bacteria in it–if you google “cat microbiome” you can find scientific reports that show how diverse the bacterial population in a cat’s gut is—way more than the 1, 3, or 5 bacterial strains some cat probiotics offer!
So this product, which offers 20 strains with 5 billion CFU (colony forming units) per dose, is the best that I found, as of mid-2015–it’s made in the US in a GMP (good manufacturing practices) facility, and the creators of this product clearly did their research on the number of bacterial strains a cat probiotic should have–definitely more than 1, 3, or 5! (1, 3, or 5 strains are better than nothing, but…why settle?)
I can’t definitely speak as to the efficacy of this product, since my vet doubled my cat’s prednisolone dose at about the same time that I started him on PetUltimate probiotics (which my vet supported)—but in the month that he was on both double prednisolone and probiotics, he gained 6 ounces, which is huge for a lanky and perpetually skinny 8 lb cat!

But I mix it up with a little low-sodium beef broth and some water and syringe it into his mouth (he’s also not fond of that procedure…) and he tolerates it. The product is a yellow-fish powder with a consistency similar to talcum powder, so it’s easy to make a mushy liquid to syringe in if your cat won’t eat it on his own.
This review is so positive that it may sound like a plant or a shill, but I definitely researched and chose this product on my own and paid full retail price.

Miley loves this food. I adopted her from a local PetSmart. They supplied me with the smallest bag of Hill’s Brand dry food and advised me that that is what they fed her.
Well, I feel that PetSmart is overpriced so I didn’t purchase any food there. After she went through her first bag of food, I was in a rush and purchased her a big bag of Purina One Indoor Cat Food from a big box store.
She loved it. But then, after 3 weeks I noticed her teeth were falling out! Oh no! I took her to the Vet and the Vet diagnosed her with Stomatitis.
The suggestion is to remove all her teeth… I can’t bring myself to do that. I want to try to save her teeth, she’s only 2 years old. So I purchased PlaqueOff, L-lysine, and some quality cat food to mix it in.
